Oregon Silverspot
Butterfly Project
Client:
California Department of Fish and Game

From
2006 through 2009, we are collaborating with the California
Department of Fish and Game and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
on a project involving the federally threatened species, Oregon Silverspot Butterfly, near Lake Earl in Del Norte County. We have
been conducting semi-weekly flight surveys for butterflies,
characterizing vegetation along survey transects and planned habitat
manipulation plots, and have begun behavioral observations of
ovipositing butterflies. In 2008, we will begin experimental habitat
manipulations with the host plant, early blue violet.
